War Operation Plan Response is a tense retro strategy simulation inspired by the WOPR computer and Global Thermonuclear War sequences of the 1983 film WarGames.
It is 1985. Relations between the United States and the Soviet Union are collapsing, strategic forces are moving to heightened readiness, and every radar contact could be an exercise, a provocation—or the beginning of the end. From the cold green glow of a military command terminal, you take control of one of the world’s two nuclear superpowers and attempt to navigate an escalating international crisis.
Track bombers, ballistic missiles and nuclear submarines across a live strategic map. Adjust DEFCON levels, disperse vulnerable forces, direct aviation and submarine operations, communicate through the hotline, respond to conventional attacks and decide whether to authorise the use of nuclear weapons. Intelligence is incomplete, warnings may be uncertain, and the opposing command is reacting to every move you make.
There are no easy victories. Restraint may be mistaken for weakness, escalation may destroy the forces it is intended to protect, and a single irreversible order can turn a political confrontation into a global catastrophe.
Presented through an authentic 1980s-inspired terminal interface, War Operation Plan Response combines strategic command, crisis management and nuclear brinkmanship in a game where the most important decision may be the one you refuse to make.
